My name is Alexandra, and welcome to the Memories & Miracles Photography homepage! You may know me from my Flickr page, on which I go by "Miss Mikaela". Memories and Miracles Photography is a charity of sorts, providing free photo-shoots to seriously ill children and their families. I am the founder, owner, photographer and representative, all in one.
I am a young teenager, but I have skill and passion for what I do. Especially because I know what it's like when a child is ill...because I myself have a serious disease called dermatomyositis. I was diagnosed more than three years ago, less than a month after my tenth birthday, and it's only gotten harder from there. I don't want to go into myself and my condition much, though, as this page is not about me. The point I'm trying to get to is this-I know what it's like, and I know that the majority families with an ill child (or children) don't have the time, nor the money, for professional photos. Heck, I haven't had any professional photos taken since I was in the fourth grade! It's just not possible with the doctor appointments, illnesses, tests, procedures and downtime due to illness.
But every moment is precious, especially when you don't know the next time your child will be able to walk, talk, dance, play, or even if they'll make it through another day. I want to be able to help you capture precious moments with your children. You may never get a moment back, but having a photograph of that moment is a treat to treasure.
